Events from 2006-2007

Our Fund Raiser was very successful with much gratitude going  to Claire Carney who shared her lovely home and Pat Dyer who handled all the financial work, Elaine Power who provided a magnificent quilt which led our raffle, Phyllis Bershader, who entertained us with her lovely music, Felice Levine, Joyce LeBlanc, Millie Marino, Paula Alderson and all who generously contributed in many ways.  Our special Visionaries and Supporters  and prize contributors will be listed in our next Newsletter. Following are some pictures taken at the event.

We had a great presentation by Renee Tong, one of our newest members to our group, on the "Navigating Systems" Program she's putting together to empower women and young girls from lower income communities to pursue a higher education. Her objective is to perform an outreach into Palm Beach and Broward counties, and provide sevices such as workshops, seminars,  technical skills, mentorship and movivation. In addition to the Grant that Renee is seeking through the National AAUW website (to be awarded in March 2008) to fund this program, other assistance is welcome. Some items that would allow the program to go forward now are laptop computers, a projector, books, office supplies, and refreshments. Jacquelyn Keely has been very helpful in providing a conference room and computer lab to be available in August 2007, but the program could begin prior to that with some of the resources mentioned above. Renee is pictured on the left with AAUW Boca Raton President Faith Campbell and on the right by herself.

We had a great luncheon at The Gold Coast Seafood Grill on Saturday December 9th, 2006. Irma gave us an excellent "heads up" on things that are going on with women around the world. Felice chose a great location. Thanks to all who helped make this a nice affair.
